The Shortwood Green Belt Campaign has been formed in direct response to the Governments proposed Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) which paves the way for 33,000 homes to be built on land, much of which is existing Green Belt stretching from Shortwood southwards to Oldland Common.
What drives us Shortwood may only have a population of around 220, but it has a community spirit like not other. The RSS plans reveal that the Government wishes Shortwood to be renamed Emersons Green East and this is totally unacceptable and we are prepared to take this all the way the House of Commons if need be.
People The Action Group was set up to oppose the RSS and to join up with other like minded groups to voice our opinions 'en masse'
Community Shortwood is a pleasant rural location that doesn't need surrounding by mass housing, there are plenty of brown fill areas that can be developed before eating into the Green Belt.
